Keanu Reeves Opens Up About Recent Serious Injury Sustained During Latest Film Shoot

Keanu Reeves, a cherished figure in Hollywood, recently shared an unsettling experience that has left fans worried. The 59-year-old actor, known for his roles in high-octane films like The Matrix and the John Wick series, revealed a serious injury he sustained while filming his latest project, Good Fortune.

Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Reeves recounted how he broke his kneecap in a seemingly minor mishap. When Colbert asked about the incident, Reeves humorously replied, “No one got to me,” adding, “Accident got to me.”

Colbert probed further, asking if Reeves was performing any extreme stunts. Reeves clarified that he wasn’t engaging in anything adventurous; instead, he was simply walking into a dressing room. He elaborated that the injury occurred during a scene from Good Fortune, a comedy featuring Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. After a cold plunge, Reeves attempted a "cold shuffle" in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket, causing his knee to give way.

Reeves demonstrated the mishap by walking in front of Colbert’s desk, mimicking how his knee “spiked” and cracked like a potato chip. “My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip,” he described, noting that he didn’t realize the extent of the injury until his knee began swelling.

Despite the serious injury, Reeves lightheartedly joked about the challenges of comedy, with Colbert clarifying that it was indeed a comedy film, not an action movie.

Earlier this year, Keanu was seen on crutches with an ice pack on his knee while filming. Good Fortune, which also stars Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer, marks Aziz Ansari's directorial debut and includes his own writing and co-production.
